Louis (Lou) Pryor was born in Salem, Michigan to Thomas Pryor and Mary Horton Baker. He had four siblings, Leroy, Myrtle, Lilian and Mary. He married Blanche Braxton, and together they had nine children, Madeline, Margaret, Loretta, Blanche, Claudine Marie, Leroy Louis, Clyde, Lloyd Thomas, Rosetta Travis, and Larry. He worked for the Canadian Fertilizer Company beginning in 1934, around the same time he was serving as a coach of the Chatham Colored All-Stars. He was a World War II veteran. Lou passed away in Chatham 6 August 1956 at the age of 65.
