WISH Centre Launch Event
On June 10th 2017, the WISH Centre in Chatham Ontario was host to the launch event for the Breaking the Colour Barrier: Wilfred "Boomer" Harding and the Chatham Coloured All-Stars project. Thanks again to everyone involved and in attendance for making this day a huge success!
"Pat Harding stood silently behind a podium in front of hundreds of people, crammed into the banquet hall at the East Chatham WISH Centre on a blistering hot Saturday afternoon.
Her family sat a few rows back, far from the most recognizable faces in a crowd that included politicians, academics, and retired MLB star Fergie Jenkins.
Two years before, Harding made a last-ditch effort to preserve fragments of history, stories from some of the most influential athletes to ever play in Chatham-Kent. One of them was her father-in-law, Wilfred “Boomer” Harding." (Louis Pin, Chatham This Week, http://www.chathamthisweek.com/2017/06/10/how-an-all-black-baseball-team-changed-chatham-kent-forever)
