North Star: A Portal for Black History in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent celebrates Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent’s Black Canadian history, providing a single gateway to the contributions of numerous volunteers, scholars, societies, and institutions who work to preserve, promote, and share it. The goals of this portal are to provide a dynamic resource that showcases the resilience and creativity that have enriched the Canadian cultural mosaic, and to invite all to engage with the many museums, heritage sites, archives, and interactive learning experiences which tell the story of Black Canadians and their profound impact on the history of this region.
