Mary & Henry Bibb
Born enslaved, Henry Bibb became a noted anti-slavery activist, orator, and writer. Born to a free family of African descent, Mary Miles was a respected teacher and abolitionist. After meeting at a convention, they married and quickly became one of the most influential couples in the anti-slavery movement. The Bibbs moved to Sandwich, Canada West where they took on an astonishing array of projects including a school, the Voice of the Fugitive newspaper, and the Refugee Home Society.
