Film Crew Biographies

  • Brandon Bastien (Editor) is an award-winning Toronto based video editor and graduate from the University of Windsor film program. Dedicated to his profession and exceptionally skilled at engaging an audience through his visual storytelling. Brandon has worked on many other popular local films such as Boys Vs. Girls, Dreamers Journey, and Rough Love.
  • Irene Moore Davis (Executive Producer) was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario. She descends from Black pioneers who settled in Southwestern Ontario, including Sandwich, in the nineteenth century. She is President of the Essex County Black Historical Research Society, fulfills committee roles with the Buxton National Historic Site and Museum, Amherstburg Freedom Museum, BookFest Windsor/Festival du Livre, and other organizations, and is co-host of the All Write in Sin City podcast. In addition to publishing poetry, Irene was part of the writing and editorial team for African Canadian Roads to Freedom, resource manuals which help local Grade 1 through 12 teachers integrate Black history into their everyday curriculum; she was a co-author of End of the Journey: A Brief History of Windsor’s African Canadian Community (Northstar Cultural Community Centre, 2006); and she was one of several Canadian and U.S. historians to contribute chapters to the book A Fluid Frontier: Slavery, Resistance, and the Underground Railroad in the Detroit River Borderland (Wayne State University Press, 2016.) Currently, Irene is completing a book about the history of African-descended people in Windsor and Sandwich. She enjoys speaking and writing about Black history, equity, diversity, and inclusion. In her professional life, Irene is an administrator at St. Clair College where she also teaches English and Underground Railroad history.
  • Devon Fraser (Research Assistant)  is a fourth-year History major at the University of Windsor. She works as a research assistant for Dr. Heidi Jacobs through the Outstanding Scholars program. She plans on obtaining her Master’s in Library and Information Sciences, with possible plans for a Ph.D. so then everyone has to call her “Dr.”  
  • Heidi LM Jacobs (Executive Producer) is a Digital Scholarship librarian at the University of Windsor’s Leddy Library. She is one of the researchers behind the Breaking the Colour Barrier: Wilfred "Boomer" Harding & the Chatham Coloured All-Stars http://cdigs.uwindsor.ca/BreakingColourBarrier/, a project that won a Lieutenant Governor’s Ontario Heritage Award for Excellence in Conservation in 2018. She is currently working on a monograph about the 1934 Chatham Coloured All-Stars with Miriam Wright (Wilfred Laurier University Press, forthcoming). She is the author of the Stephen Leacock Medal winning novel Molly of the Mall: Literary Lass and Purveyor of Fine Footwear (NeWest Press, 2019) and 100 Miles of Baseball: Fifty Games, One Summer with Dale Jacobs (Biblioasis, 2021).
  • Sikandar Saleem (Sound) is a graduate from the University of Windsor’s Communication, Media and Film program. He specializes in audio, whether it’s location sound or post-production. He runs a company, Six Visions Media, which is a multimedia and digital content creation company.  
  • Anushray Singh (Director, Cinematographer) is an Indian filmmaker, media artist and writer based in Canada. He has received his MFA in Film & Media Arts from the University of Windsor (2020); B.Tech in Civil Engineering from the Vellore Institute of Technology (2017). His academic and research interests are Authenticity, Embodiment, Hybridity, Identity, Intercultural encounters, South Asian Diaspora, Transnational media and the Third Space. His media artwork includes visual poems/video poems and podcasts on themes resonating culture, nostalgia, emotions and juxtaposition of South Asian and Western landscapes. 
  • Prasanna Marathon (Production Assistant) is an international student at the University of Windsor who is currently reading for his bachelor’s in Communication, Media and Film. He is a Sri Lankan and is presently exploring Canada to experience diversity whilst working to achieve his goals. Prasanna is passionate about filmmaking and cinematography and has been so from a very young age. Experiencing different cultures and learning from them has always been in his interest. He hopes to follow his dream of becoming a storyteller.
